Bonus Type Level Adjustments

Every bonus added to an item will affect the level adjustment of the item. For example, adding a strength bonus to the item may increase the final level of the item by 6 levels per point of strength. The level adjustment sum of all bonuses determines the object level, and crafted dc, and that amount can be reduced by using better materials.

The following table will explain the level adjustment for each bonus type:

NOTE: The following figures are for the Universal bonus type, which is a stacking bonus type. If the bonus type is Enhancement (which does not stack), these numbers are halved.

Crafting Mote Requirements

To determine how many crafting motes are required, do the following:

  1. For each bonus on the item:
    1. Determine the bonus type.
    2. Determine the bonus amount.
    3. Reference the level adjustment for the bonus type and amount.
    4. Look up that number on the table below to see how many crafting motes are required for *this bonus only*.
    5. Check the table above to see the type of crafting mote required for this bonus.
  2. The level adjustment for better materials affects only the final item level and crafting dc, and not the crafting mote requirements.

Level Adjustment Per Bonus Is...

1-4

3 motes

5-9

8 motes

10-14

15 motes

15-19

25 motes

20-24

40 motes

25-29

60 motes

30+

80 motes

Example:

Let's create a silver bracelet with a +2 to Strength (Universal) and +4 to Dexterity (Enhancement)

Strength Bonus +2 (Universal)

  • Crafting Mote Type is Fire
  • Bonus is Strength
  • Bonus Amount is 2
  • Level Adjustment is 6 x 2 or 12
  • Motes Required are 15 Fire

Dexterity Bonus +4 (Enhancement)

  • Crafting Mote Type is Lightning
  • Bonus is Dexterity
  • Bonus Amount is 4
  • Level Adjustment is 6 x 4 or 24 divided by 2 for using an Enhancement bonus type, so 12
  • Motes Required are 15 Lightning

Material Used is Silver

  • -4 to final object level and crafting dc.

Final level adjustment is 12 + 12 from the bonuses and -4 from using silver as the material for a final level of 20

Therefore the bracelet will use 15 fire motes, 15 lightning motes, have a minimum useable level of 20, and the crafting dc will be +20.
