Legendary Equipment Awakens: Combat Overhaul and More
Chronicles of Krynn Development Update — November 7, 2026
A new chapter of adventure is unfolding across Ansalon! Our latest development update introduces an ambitious legendary equipment system, substantial improvements to ranged combat, new racial abilities, and a wide range of enhancements designed to make adventuring throughout Krynn more rewarding.
These updates cover changes implemented between October 26 and November 7, 2026. Some features may require additional world configuration before becoming available.
Dragonmetal Awakening: Forge Your Legendary Legacy
The centerpiece of this update is Dragonmetal Awakening, a new legendary-item progression system that allows eligible equipment to develop alongside its owner.
Through the new infuse command, adventurers can work toward advancing their legendary equipment, unlocking new capabilities, and shaping items around their preferred playstyle.
The system introduces:
- Equipment progression paths and ranks that determine how legendary items develop.
- Selectable passive bonuses, techniques, signatures, and modifiers for greater customization.
- Independent primary and supporting channels for eligible two-handed equipment.
- Infusion experience and legendary materials obtained through supported activities, including eligible boss rewards and material exchanges.
- Attunement, loadout displays, and power activation to manage legendary capabilities.
- Inspection and upgrade guidance to help players understand their equipment's potential.
The system also includes safeguards for purchases, material spending, and equipment changes. Legendary items have owner-binding restrictions, and their identities, cooldowns, resources, and progression are designed to persist reliably.
Whether you favor powerful melee weapons or other eligible equipment, Dragonmetal Awakening offers a new long-term goal for your adventures.

A New Era of Ranged Combat
Ranged combat has received a substantial overhaul, changing how distance, positioning, ammunition, and weapon abilities work together.
Combat now takes place with distance and weapon range playing a more meaningful role, even when opponents occupy the same room. Room sizes help determine combat distances, and the new advance command allows characters to close the gap.
NPCs and companions can automatically approach opponents when appropriate, while eligible enemies can make ranged attacks of their own.
Several familiar ranged-combat feats have been reworked to support the new mechanics:
- Point-Blank Shot and Precise Shot
- Improved Precise Shot and Rapid Shot
- Manyshot and Far Shot
- Quick Draw and Deadly Aim
Ammunition and thrown weapons
Ammunition now supports quantities, enhancement bonuses, elemental damage, and unlimited-ammunition properties where applicable.
Wielded thrown weapons and returning ammunition have also received attention, creating more options for characters who prefer fighting at a distance.
Formations now interact more closely with weapon reach, ranged attacks, and movement. Weapon attacks, ammunition consumption, and ranged spell or touch attacks have also been separated more accurately.
Additional combat fixes improve Stunning Blow saving throws, prevent poison effects from unnecessarily disrupting stealth, and add clearer damage feedback for slam and draconian bite attacks.
Spellcasting, Psionics, and Character Advancement
Spellcasters and psionic characters will find several important improvements in this update.
The new spellhelp command provides information about spells and psionic powers based on their implemented game mechanics, making it easier to understand how abilities function.
Sorcerers have received particular attention, including:
- Independent Sorcerer perk tables.
- Migration of eligible existing perk investments.
- Corrections to spell selection and spell-slot allocation.
- Improvements to casting progression and shared arcane-perk behavior.
Psionic saving-throw difficulties and Deadly Fear augmentation have also been corrected.
Other changes include Holy Weapon benefits applying to unarmed attacks, removal of the Clone spell's component requirement, improved level-gain and perk-point messages, and Lore checks that use a character's best eligible knowledge skill.
New Powers for the Irda and Auraks
Two new racial abilities have been introduced for the mysterious Irda:
Augment Physicality and Mirage Flare.
Advanced-race registration and racial-ability handling have also been corrected.
Aurak characters benefit from improved innate spellcasting, including appropriate resource costs, recovery, and persistent usage tracking. Inappropriate racial spells have also been removed from class spell-selection lists.
These changes help distinguish advanced races through their own unique abilities.
More Reliable Companions and Equipment
For adventurers who travel with pets, eidolons, or other companions, this update delivers important improvements to progression and persistence.
Companion experience, ownership, saving, and loading have been refined. Main eidolons now better preserve their training through dismissal, resummoning, and replacement bodies, while temporary or outdated copies are prevented from overwriting saved progress.
Pet and group displays also provide clearer information about experience needed for the next advancement.
Equipment preservation has been strengthened during logout, link loss, idle extraction, and server copyovers. Additional object checkpoints, failed-save handling, and serialization improvements are intended to reduce accidental item loss.
Crafting and Supply Orders
Artisans throughout Krynn will benefit from corrections to several crafting and harvesting mechanics.
The Elbow Grease and Jack of All Trades bonuses now work more consistently in affected activities and checks. Supply-order item selection and crafting-project validation have also been corrected.
Crafting tutorials, player guides, and website documentation have been updated to reflect current systems.
The obsolete practice command has been removed.
Clans, Mail, and Community Features
Clan administration is becoming more convenient with notifications for pending applications and support for approving or rejecting applicants who are offline.
Additional notifications help keep applicants, clan members, and leaders informed about membership decisions, leadership matters, and territory activity.
In-game mail now supports replies to received messages, including private replies to announcements.
These improvements should make it easier for communities and organizations throughout Ansalon to coordinate their activities.
Player Housing and Markets
Homeowners can now rename their properties using:
house name
house rename
Player markets have also received administrative improvements. Staff can remove market stalls from rooms while preserving former tenants' stock, earnings, and history.
Market directories have been updated to handle removed stalls more reliably, and the related documentation has been refreshed.
World Building and Behind-the-Scenes Improvements
Our builders and staff have received several new tools to support continued expansion of Chronicles of Krynn.
BuildWalk now handles overlapping rooms more intelligently, while editable room sizes give builders additional control over the environments where the new ranged-combat mechanics operate.
Builder options have also expanded to include ammunition properties and ranged-attack capabilities for eligible NPCs.
A new zpromote system supports moving saved development zones to the live game, with previews, timestamped backups, verification, restoration, and rollback safeguards.
Additional database migrations, diagnostic tools, feat-data exports, and regression tests support the reliability of these updates.
Your Next Adventure Awaits
From awakening legendary equipment to mastering the new ranged-combat system, there is plenty for adventurers to discover.
Whether you're a veteran hero refining your equipment, a spellcaster experimenting with new possibilities, a crafter perfecting your trade, or a newcomer beginning your journey, these updates continue to expand the world of Chronicles of Krynn.
